President’s Report Looks back, but Urges ‘Go Forward’

2 July 2015 San Antonio, Texas, USA [Victor Hulbert, tedNEWS] Considering the jet-lag still being faced by the majority of TED delegates it was impressive to see the turn-out for the President's report on Thursday evening, 2 July. After all, they had already done a full day of business. And it's not just the jet-lag, it is also the distances they have walked between the exhibition hall and venue for meals, and the Alamodome, venue for the main meetings. A very fit Ian Sweeney, President of the British Union Conference, reckoned that totalled about three miles for him today – that in addition to his early morning exercise routine.

All Eyes on San Antonio

1 July 2015 | San Antonio, Texas, USA [Victor Hulbert, tedNEWS] There is a sense of expectation in the air around San Antonio. For some, it is literally 'in the air' as over the past couple of days 2,566 delegates along with exhibitors, administrative support teams, media, and thousands of interested Seventh-day Adventists have crowded airport terminals, queued for taxis or taken road-trips across the United States to make it to the sixtieth General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Why GC Session?

1 July 2015 | San Antonio, Texas, USA [Victor Hulbert, tedNEWS] If there is one meal that defines the Seventh-day Adventist diet it is 'the haystack'. For those outside of Adventism it is a mystery, but go to any social gathering in North America and the mix of corn chips, beans, salads and sauces is almost compulsory. American missionaries then exported the surprisingly tasty mix around the world. Surprisingly refreshing then, that a Tex-Mex version of it was served at the first official meal of the 2015 General Conference Session. It made delegates from across the world feel somewhat at home.

Millions Visit Adventist Social Media

23 June 2015 St Albans, United Kingdom [Mirjana Tešanović, tedNEWS] We live in a time in which people’s lives are unavoidably dominated by the presence of media. A time in which reality can often seem veiled by social media and programmes broadcast on the Internet are both popular and commonplace.

In response to such a growing influence, the Trans-European Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (TED) has established a social media evangelism initiative known as LIFEconnect (www.lifeconnect.info). The purpose of this initiative is to connect with the millions of people who use the Internet on a regular basis.
