Newbold celebrates 70th anniversary at Binfield campus

3 February 2016 | Binfield, UK [Kirsty Watkins]  Sabbath, 6 February will mark the 70th anniversary of Newbold College of Higher Education's relocation from its previous campus in Warwickshire to its current home in Binfield, Berkshire.

The date also coincides with the annual offering for Newbold which this year will support the College's iconic Moor Close building and gardens. As locations that many students and graduates hold dear it is a fitting project to commemorate the anniversary.

Ministerial health in Scandinavia

Dr Milanov and Tihomir Lazić, who commenced last semester, are two of the newest members of the academic community at Newbold.

ADRA Serbia and the European refugee crisis – more than just a job

Persistence despite prejudice builds bridges

28 January 2016 | Novi Sad, Serbia [tedNEWS] When you see a good thing you want to bring it home. That, at least, was the case for Marijana* who has been involved with the Relay youth club in Novi Sad, Serbia, since it started in September 2012. She had seen the positive effect of the club on local children and how, working in cooperation with ADRA, the team were even able to give them special New Year presents. For 2016 she decided to do the same in her local village, just over an hour's drive south-west of Serbia's second largest city.

Grandchild ministry leads to growth in Greece

28 January 2016 | Athens, Greece [Victor Hulbert] It just takes one committed grandparent and a new church can be established. That committed lady recently became an Adventist and is part of a small church that meets roughly one hour outside of Athens. In her turn she has nine children. They are all married and have children of their own. The whole family now attend church, their children making up a large proportion of the twenty children in attendance.

European refugee summit to coordinate ADRA & Church activities

19 January 2016 | Zagreb, Croatia [Victor Hulbert] It can never be easy to sit in a comfortable hotel room when you know that just two hours down the road there is a major refugee transit point. However, comfort was not the issue as directors of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) joined with Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders from across Europe to openly discuss the European refugee crisis and seek ways as to how the Church and ADRA together can better respond to the current needs of refugees pouring through Europe.

Fundraising dream completes a new school in Albania

14 January 2016 | St Albans, England [Victor Hulbert] Twenty-five years on from his initial visit to the former totalitarian state of Albania, Pastor John Arthur, a now retired director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) both in the UK and later the Trans-European Division, sits comfortably in his wheel-chair, rejoicing that a lifetime dream has been achieved. He is also a little surprised, and maybe embarrassed, that a newly rebuilt school in a remote mountain village is now called the John Arthur School.
